The Wall Street Journal revealed that a group of investors led by billionaire Elon Musk has made a $97.4 billion offer to acquire the nonprofit that oversees the artificial intelligence startup OpenAI.
According to the report, Musk’s lawyer, Mark Toberoff, confirmed that he officially submitted the offer to OpenAI’s board of directors on Monday.
The newspaper quoted Musk, in a statement made through Toberoff, as saying: “It is time to get OpenAI back on track as an open source force focused on safety for the common good… and we will make sure that happens.”
