US President Donald Trump announced a joint project with giant technology companies, including OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank, to invest billions of dollars in artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States.

The project, called Stargate, was announced at the White House by Trump, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.

The executives pledged to invest $ 100 billion initially and up to $ 500 billion over the next four years in the project, which will be established as a separate company.

While Trump said in his talk about artificial intelligence that “what we want to do is keep it in this country,” noting that China is a major competitor in this emerging industry.

For his part, Ellison said that Stargate’s first joint project will be to build data centers in Texas – an effort that is already underway.

OpenAI later said in a post on the X platform that the project “will not only support the re-industrialization of the United States, but will also provide a strategic capability to protect the national security of America and our allies.”
