Diriyah Electricity Company announced today the opening of two advanced power transmission stations in Diriyah, namely: the central transformer station with a capacity of 1707 megavolt amperes, and the main transformer station with a capacity of 200 megavolt amperes, which will contribute to accelerating the growth and development of assets in Diriyah and Wadi Safar. The Saudi Electricity Company will operate these two stations, as they are the first stations of the urban development project that are characterized by a design inspired by the Najdi architectural style. The cost of the two stations is 682 million riyals, and they will be managed and operated by the Saudi Electricity Company. Two cable laying projects have been implemented at a total cost of 484 million riyals, with the cost of the central transformer station amounting to 605 million riyals, and it will contribute with a capacity of 1707 megavolt amperes with a voltage of 380/132/13.8 kilovolts to support the development of assets in Diriyah and enable a variety of cultural, educational, commercial, office, residential and hotel projects, including areas such as Diriyah Square, Qurain Cultural District, and the Northern District. The Saudi Electricity Company implemented this station in cooperation with the Saudi Services Company for Electrical and Mechanical Works (SSEM). To operate the central station, the Saudi Electricity Company worked on implementing a major cable laying project worth 316 million riyals, in cooperation with the Civil and Electrical Projects Contracting Company (CEPCO). The main station costs 77 million riyals, with a capacity of 200 megavolt amperes and a voltage of 132/33 kilovolts; It is a major source of energy for the Wadi Safar project, which is characterized by its stunning landscapes, and includes several assets in the hospitality sector, sports and entertainment venues, including the Royal Equestrian and Polo Club, and the Wadi Safar Golf Course designed by Greg Norman. The Saudi Electricity Company implemented this station in cooperation with MAETEL Contracting Company. To operate this station, the Saudi Electricity Company worked on implementing a cable extension project worth 168 million riyals. The two stations were designed according to the traditional Najdi architectural style in Diriyah, to emulate the surrounding architectural development, and to preserve the cultural identity of Diriyah. By integrating the authenticity of the Kingdom’s heritage with advanced infrastructure, these two stations are a testament to Diriyah’s commitment to preserving heritage while building a sustainable future. The opening of the two stations is among the many assets that the Diriyah Development Company is working to establish in the urban development area. Diriyah is one of the five major projects of the Public Investment Fund. By 2030, the population will reach about 100,000 people, and it will provide 178,000 job opportunities. Diriyah will also host 50 million visits annually and contribute about 70 billion riyals to the Kingdom’s gross domestic product.
