Tesla China announced that its electric vehicle sales in Chinese mainland hit a record 657,000 units in 2024, up 8.8 percent year-on-year.
Tesla also set a monthly record by selling 83,000 electric vehicles on the Chinese mainland in December 2024, up 12.8 percent month-on-month.
According to Xinhua, globally, data released last Thursday showed that Tesla produced 1.77 million electric vehicles and delivered about 1.79 million in 2024, marking the first annual decline in deliveries in at least nine years.
As part of its global expansion, Tesla added more than 11,500 Superchargers globally last year, up 19 percent year-on-year. The total number of Tesla Superchargers now exceeds 67,000 units. The company is set to begin introducing the V4 Supercharger to mainland China starting in 2025. In Shanghai, Tesla’s massive factory dedicated to manufacturing energy storage batteries, known as the “Megapack,” has begun trial production. Full mass production at the facility is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025.
