Saudi Minister of Tourism Highlights Tourism’s Role in Global Economic Growth at World Economic Forum 2025

Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb is participating in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2025 in Davos, Switzerland, as part of the high-level Saudi delegation. He leads discussions emphasizing the significance of the travel and tourism sector in achieving economic growth and prosperity.

Al-Khateeb stated, “The travel and tourism sector is a cornerstone of global economies. It is essential that we recognize its importance in our sessions at Davos during the WEF Annual Meeting 2025.”

He emphasized the sector’s immense potential in driving inclusive global economic transformation through sustainability, innovation, and collaboration. Saudi Arabia reaffirms its commitment to enhancing international cooperation and promoting sustainable tourism growth.

In collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism, the WEF released a paper titled “The Future of Travel and Tourism: Embracing Sustainable and Inclusive Growth. ” This paper explores transformative trends, destination readiness, and the importance of cross-sector collaboration and will guide discussions on tourism during the forum.

Saudi Arabia also unveiled an investor briefing detailing Saudi Vision 2030 initiatives transforming the tourism sector. These include developing advanced tourism infrastructure, attracting international visitors, and offering unique cultural experiences. The Kingdom has already surpassed its goal of welcoming 100 million tourists by 2023, positioning itself as one of the world’s fastest-growing tourism destinations.

The WEF Annual Meeting 2025 provides a platform for Saudi Arabia to reinforce its commitment to cross-sector partnerships and economic growth through tourism. Al Khateeb’s participation aims to establish new partnerships and initiatives to leverage tourism for global economic development.

In addition to the forum’s activities, Al-Khateeb will participate in dialogues focusing on Africa’s development through investment, women’s roles in global economies, and strategies to advance sustainable tourism. He will also meet policymakers and leaders from various sectors to explore opportunities for collaboration.
