Chinese president expects his country’s GDP to exceed $18 trillion in 2024

Chinese President Xi Jinping revealed that he expects his country’s GDP in 2024 to exceed 130 trillion yuan (about 18.08 trillion dollars), stressing that the Chinese economy has witnessed a recovery and is on an upward trajectory.

Xi Jinping said in his remarks that China has proactively responded to the impacts of the changing environment at home and abroad, and adopted a full set of policies to achieve solid gains in the pursuit of high-quality development.

The Chinese president added that his country has strengthened new high-quality productive forces under actual conditions, and witnessed the emergence of new sectors, forms and business models.

He pointed out that China’s annual production of new energy vehicles exceeded 10 million units for the first time in 2024, and grain production exceeded 700 million tons, in addition to his country’s achievements in integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, quantum communications and many other fields.
