British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced today the launch of a project to generalize the use of artificial intelligence in all vital sectors in order to support economic development and create jobs.
Starmer confirmed in a press statement that the project, called the “Action Plan for Artificial Intelligence Opportunities,” will be activated across all government departments and sectors, with the involvement of the private sector to implement various projects.
He stated that artificial intelligence will form part of the construction and planning of residential projects, in the fields of health, education, scientific research, and others, noting that the use of this technology will allow for the enhancement of annual economic growth by 1.5 percent, or the equivalent of 47 billion pounds sterling ($57 billion).
Starmer revealed that three leading technology companies intend to invest 14 billion pounds sterling ($17 billion) to build the infrastructure for artificial intelligence in the United Kingdom, which will allow for the creation of more than 13,000 new jobs at once.
He pointed out that these projects will make Britain a world leader in this field, adding that the action plan will work to enhance the desired change, which means more jobs, investments and quality in public services. The British government has set a goal of increasing the capacity of “sovereign” or the public sector computing by twenty times by 2030.
