Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp said on Wednesday its global production fell for the 10th straight month in November, even as its global sales grew for a second straight month thanks to strong demand in the United States and China.
Toyota, the world’s largest automaker, produced 869,230 vehicles globally in November, down 6.2% from a year earlier.
That was a sharper decline than a 0.8% decline in October.
Toyota’s U.S. output fell 11.8%, reflecting a slow recovery, while output in China fell 1.6%. That was an improvement from a 9% decline the previous month as Toyota saw domestic sales rise.
In Japan, which accounts for about a third of Toyota’s global output, production fell 9.3% last month.
Toyota’s global sales rose for a second straight month, up 1.7% to 920,569 vehicles, setting a new November record.
