Syrian Lira rises against US dollar by about 23%

The Syrian lira rose against the dollar during today’s trading, Monday, by about 23%, reaching 17 thousand pounds per dollar, according to the “sp-today” website.

According to CNBC, the official price at the Central Bank of Syria is about 13.7 thousand liras, and the Syrian lira had reached levels of 22 thousand liras per dollar in Damascus yesterday due to political developments.

Since 2020, the Syrian lira has lost more than 90% of its value against the dollar in the parallel market. In 2023, the average market price of the Syrian lira recorded a decrease of 141% against the dollar.
