Saudi-European meetings to discuss ways to overcome common challenges and enhance cooperation in trade and investment

The General Authority for Foreign Trade in the Kingdom is organizing a trade roundtable meeting between the Kingdom and the European Union countries, at the Authority’s headquarters in Riyadh, and it will continue during the period from December 9 to 10, 2024, headed by Abdulaziz bin Omar Al-Sakran, Deputy Governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade for International Relations, and Thomas Jorgensen, Head of Trade and Economic Affairs at the European Union Delegation to the Kingdom, with the participation of a number of governmental and private entities in the Kingdom.

The meeting aims to enhance the economic and trade partnership between the Kingdom and the European Union countries, as the European Union is one of the most important trading partners of the Kingdom, with a noticeable increase in the volume of trade exchanged between the two sides.

The meeting focuses on discussing ways to overcome common challenges and enhance cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, in a way that enhances the position of the economic partnership at the international level.

The meeting will be attended by senior officials for trade affairs from the European Union Delegation to the Kingdom, representatives of EU member states concerned with trade affairs in the Kingdom, in addition to representatives of the European Chamber of Commerce in Riyadh, along with the presence of experts from the Saudi government sector, representatives of major Saudi projects and leading companies in the Kingdom. The meeting is expected to address several main axes aimed at enhancing the pace of communication between the two sides and building strong relations between the Kingdom’s trade partners through the exchange of knowledge and reviewing new reforms and legislation in the Kingdom, discussing ways to address trade barriers, and reviewing potential partnership opportunities between the public and private sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the European Union, leading to the creation of more opportunities for joint cooperation. The meeting is expected to yield tangible results, including enhancing the exchange of knowledge in the field of trade regulations and procedures, reducing trade barriers, in addition to discussing ways to increase trade exchange and build stronger relations between actors from both sides.
