Nikkei hits 3-week high
The Nikkei average hit a 3-week high on Tuesday, supported by a broad-based rally led by heavyweight chipmakers, after a strong close on Wall Street overnight.
The Nikkei rose 1.9% to 39,248.86 after rising more than 2% earlier in the session.
The broader Topix index jumped 1.4% to 2,753.58.
