Japan’s Nikkei average closed lower on Friday as traders booked profits following a four-session rally after U.S. economic data raised bets on a Federal Reserve rate cut next week.
The Nikkei fell 0.95 percent to 39,470.44 but gained 1.94 percent on the week, with Thursday’s gains pushing the benchmark to a two-month high.
The broader Topix index fell 0.95 percent to 2,746.56 but was up 1.68 percent on the week.
