New Murabba signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC). The agreement aligns with the company’s approach to integrating sustainability into every stage of planning and implementation and supports New Murabba’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.
The MoU, signed by New Murabba Development Company chief executive Michael Dyke and NCVC Chief Executive Dr. Khaled bin Abdullah Alabdulqadir, aligns with the Kingdom’s goals of achieving carbon neutrality in operational processes.
The MoU aims to enhance cooperation between the two parties to reach innovative solutions for developing vegetation cover, combating desertification, and promoting biodiversity. It also affirms New Murabba’s goals to develop a green and sustainable urban environment as a model for the development witnessed in Saudi Arabia.
This cooperation will contribute to exchanging expertise and implementing joint programs and projects within the framework of the agreement to support afforestation and increase green spaces in specific areas in the Kingdom. It also will enhance cooperation to work in an integrated manner to activate the necessary procedures and measures to preserve the ecosystem and vegetation cover.
Based on the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and in line with New Murabba’s goals to contribute to carbon reduction, the development company will continue to cooperate with the NCVC to raise community and environmental awareness and conduct joint studies, strategies, and vegetation development plans. The agreement also facilitates the participation of those wishing to join this initiative for three years from the date of signing the MoU.
The MoU is linked to New Murabba’s sustainable development goals and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), supporting key objectives such as Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and Goal 13 (Climate Action) by prioritizing sustainability in every aspect of its design and operation.
