Minister of Transport: New Jazan Airport is designed to serve 3.6 million passengers per year

Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, today inspected the new Jazan Airport project, accompanied by Suleiman bin Ahmed Al-Bassam, Advisor to the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Masrahi, CEO of the Second Airports Cluster.

He visited the project on the ground, listening to an explanation of the progress of work at the new airport, which is being built on an area of ​​48 million square meters, and a number of service facilities, equipped with five travel gates, each with two bridges for passengers, so that the total number of bridges is 10 bridges for the movement of passengers from the plane to the airport.

He was briefed on the facilities included in the project, including the runway, the control tower, the passenger lounge, the royal lounge, service buildings, parking lots, investment facilities, a cooling station, a sewage treatment station, a water tank, and an energy building.

Al-Jasser explained during his field tour that the new airport project is one of the most important strategic projects in the Jazan region, as its design took into account the latest international standards in designing facilities and systems to reflect the rich cultural and urban diversity of the Jazan region, explaining that the airport was designed to serve 3.6 million passengers per year through domestic and international flights to and from the Jazan region. He explained that the project completion rates have reached, thank God, 70%, noting that the new airport will contribute to increasing the passenger capacity, increasing the rate of flights, expanding air connectivity to the Jazan region, raising the rate of air traffic, supporting economic and developmental movement, tourism programs, and quality of life in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The Minister of Transport and Logistics expressed his happiness with what he saw during the tour of the works and completion rates, and the topics discussed related to accelerating the progress of work on the new airport project, directing the importance of doubling and combining efforts and overcoming all obstacles, which contributes to the speedy completion of the project according to the plans and mechanisms prepared for that, noting the great and unlimited support from the wise leadership for the development and service projects of the transportation and logistics services system, expressing his thanks to His Highness the Emir of Jazan Region, for his support and follow-up, and to all relevant government agencies, for providing everything that contributes to completing development projects in the region, most notably the new international airport, and harnessing all capabilities to support economic growth and achieve sustainable development. The Minister of Transport and Logistics was accompanied during the tour by Mubarak bin Mohammed Al-Shahrani, Director General of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport in Jazan, Eng. Rawid Attafi, Director of the New Airport Project, and a number of officials.
