The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced the addition of the new “JRS” shipping service by Global Feeder Shipping to Jeddah Islamic Port, connecting the Kingdom to ports in Egypt, Oman, and India, and consequently enhancing maritime connectivity and boosting operational efficiency.
The move aligns with Mawani’s efforts to improve the Kingdom’s ranking in the global maritime connectivity index and strengthen its ties to international markets. It supports national imports and exports while advancing the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to position Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub and a nexus of trade across three continents.
The new JRS shipping service links Jeddah Islamic Port to Mundra port in India; Sokhna, Egypt; and Salalah, Oman.
With a capacity of 800 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), the service bolsters the port’s capacity and connectivity.
Mawani’s collaborations with global shipping lines contribute to the development of Saudi ports by enhancing competitiveness, expanding infrastructure, extending maritime transport routes, and improving operational and logistical services.
