Japan’s Nikkei average rose for a fourth straight day as a record high on Wall Street overnight boosted investor sentiment, but gains were capped by profit-taking.
The index closed up 0.3 percent at 39,395.60, touching its highest intraday level since Nov. 12 at 39,632.3 before paring gains.
The broader Topix ended the day up 0.1 percent at 2,742.24.
The three major U.S. stock indexes hit record closing highs on Wednesday, led by technology stocks, after strong results from Salesforce.com and a boost from comments from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
