Gold prices rise ahead of US inflation data release this week

Gold prices rose on Monday as US inflation data awaited this week for clues on the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy.

Spot gold rose 0.1% to $2,631.60 an ounce after hitting an earlier session high of $2,647.99, while US gold futures were steady at $2,658.10.

In other precious metals, silver was steady at $30.99 an ounce, platinum was steady at $930.20 an ounce, but palladium rose 0.6% to $962.10 an ounce.
