The Korea Water Resources Corporation (KWRC) said it participated in the Cityscape Global exhibition in Riyadh, which was held from November 11 to 14, where it introduced its digital twin-based water management technology.
In order to manage water in Saudi Arabia, the corporation is currently establishing a digital twin platform in Jeddah in cooperation with the Korean company Naver and NHC.
It is worth noting that the digital twin platform aims to prevent disasters by predicting floods and inundation using information about cities and built-up areas in a three-dimensional virtual space, and is one of the most prominent digital water management technologies of the Korea Water Resources Corporation.
During this exhibition, the corporation presented plans to link information about the discharge of dams and water drainage channels to prevent flooding in the city of Jeddah, which was created in a virtual space.
The corporation plans to implement expected scenarios such as floods, inundation and dam discharge, which may occur in Jeddah, in a three-dimensional space, using information about currently operating dams and rainfall in Saudi Arabia.
In order to improve the accuracy of prediction, the corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with NHC to exchange knowledge in digital twin technologies and services.
“We will do our best to solve Saudi Arabia’s water problems, relying on our advanced technologies and water management experience accumulated for more than half a century,” said Jang Byung-hoon, director of the water resources and environment department at the foundation.
