Passenger transport applications in the Kingdom witnessed growth from the beginning of the first quarter until the end of the third quarter of 2024.
According to statistics, the total number of trips carried out by passenger transport applications in various cities and regions of the Kingdom exceeded 51.8 million trips, as the growth rate in the third quarter recorded (41%) compared to the second quarter of this year, while the growth rate for the total number of trips since the beginning of the year reached (12%) compared to the same period last year 2023.
These trips are provided through 46 applications licensed to practice the activity of transporting passengers through applications in the Kingdom. Statistics also indicated that the total income of Saudi drivers working in this activity exceeded 1.1 billion riyals during the same period of this year.
A number of Saudi drivers work in passenger transport applications and participate in providing transportation services as full-time drivers or on an overtime system, which reflects the Authority’s direction in enabling Saudis, both male and female, to benefit from the opportunities available in transportation services, expand the scope of partnership with the private sector, and create flexible job opportunities for citizens.
Riyadh topped the list of cities in terms of the number of trips, recording 39% of the total trips, followed by Makkah Al-Mukarramah with 25%, and the Eastern Province with 16%. This growth is evidence of the increasing demand for transportation services via applications due to the ease and speed of response they provide to beneficiaries. Passenger transportation applications are an important part of modern transportation in the Kingdom, as they provide a safe and comfortable means of transportation that contributes to alleviating congestion and reducing the time taken to reach different destinations.
These applications play a vital role in improving the level of transportation services for citizens and residents, making them an essential choice for daily transportation.
In this context, the Authority called on all Saudi young men and women who are full-time to take advantage of the opportunities available in passenger transportation services via applications, obtain financial support provided by the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf), and invest their time according to the flexible work policy that characterizes these applications.
