Japan’s Nikkei index closed lower today as investors remained cautious ahead of the results of US giant Nvidia later in the day, which some fear will fall short of expectations.
The Nikkei ended trading down 0.2% at 38,352.34 points. The broader Topix index closed down 0.4% at 2,698.29 points.
Nvidia, the artificial intelligence giant and the world’s largest company by market value, is scheduled to announce its third-quarter results after Wall Street closes on Wednesday, which will be an indicator and test of the strength of demand for chips and the continuation of the huge demand for artificial intelligence in the world.
