Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily) announced its successful acquisition of 120 MHz of spectrum through the spectrum auction organized by the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) for mobile telecommunications in the 600, 700, and 3800 MHz frequency bands. The 15-year license was obtained for SAR 2.48 billion, with the spectrum set to be available starting January 1, 2025.
Mobily secured 20 MHz in the 700 MHz band and 100 MHz in the 3800 MHz band. The 700 MHz band, known for its robust ecosystem and wide device compatibility, will enable extensive coverage and enhanced service quality, including advanced 5G capabilities. The 3800 MHz band will boost the company’s ability to provide high-speed data services, meeting growing consumer and business demand for ultra-fast connectivity.
Mobily highlighted that the combined use of these frequency bands will create an integrated spectrum strategy, enhancing its ability to deliver innovative, customer-focused services. This acquisition underscores Mobily’s commitment to embracing cutting-edge technology and strengthening its position as an industry leader.
With the addition of this 120 MHz, Mobily’s total spectrum portfolio now reaches 440 MHz, spanning the 600, 700, 800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600, and 3700 MHz bands, significantly enhancing its network capabilities.
