The British Financial Times revealed that Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister, will travel to the Kingdom and the Emirates next month in an attempt to discuss investments.

The British newspaper indicated that Starmer’s trip is part of a campaign to strengthen diplomatic and trade relations between the two countries.

The United Kingdom is keen to secure investment from Gulf countries in sectors ranging from energy to infrastructure, including projects such as the Sizewell C nuclear power plant in eastern England.

The value of the United Kingdom’s trade relationship with the six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council is 57 billion pounds, according to British officials.

In context, Saudi Arabia has major investments in the United Kingdom, including chemical plants in Teesside, and investments by the Public Investment Fund, which is the largest owner of Newcastle United Football Club.
