The General Authority for Statistics revealed today, Tuesday, the results of the 2023 Household Energy Statistics Bulletin in the Kingdom, indicating that 42.3% of families want to use solar energy in their homes across the Kingdom.
The bulletin results showed that the Riyadh region accounted for the highest share of electricity consumption for the residential sector at 28.1%, followed by the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region at 25.5%, while the percentage of electricity consumption in the Eastern Region reached 16.7%, indicating that the Al-Baha region is the lowest consumer of electricity at 0.9% at the administrative region level.
The Household Energy Statistics Bulletin also showed that the average weekly operating hours of electrical water heating appliances reached 62.1 hours per week during 2023, while the average weekly operating hours of air conditioning reached 51.5 hours per week, while the average weekly operating hours of heating reached 17.9 hours per week, and as for electrical appliances used for cooking only, the average weekly operating hours reached 6.8 hours per week. It reported that the percentage of families very interested in rationalizing energy consumption reached 92.1% during 2023, and the percentage of families applying energy rationalization instructions in the use of electrical appliances in the home reached 83.6%, while the percentage of families willing to spend some money to replace old appliances with modern devices with higher energy efficiency reached 55.2%. The results of the bulletin showed that the percentage of homes that use various forms of energy for cooking in the residential sector reached 98.4% during 2023 AD. The results also showed that the percentage of homes that use gas (cooking gas) is 89% of the percentage of energy used for cooking, while the percentage of homes that use electricity for cooking is 9.3%, and as for homes that use other types of various forms of energy for cooking, their percentage is 0.1%. It is noteworthy that the Household Energy Statistics Bulletin relies on two data sources: data from the Household Energy Survey and data from administrative records from the Ministry of Energy. The results of the bulletin also display data on the use of energy in its various forms in the home according to the types of homes and their ownership in the Kingdom.
