The latest Windows 11 update (24H2) released by Microsoft caused serious malfunctions for some users, as computers running specific versions of SSD storage disks encountered problems related to the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).
This problem comes after a series of technical errors associated with the new update, which raised users’ concerns and led to widespread discussions in technical forums.
According to the Windows Latest technical website, the 24H2 update for Windows 11 led to the system crashing and the appearance of what is known as the “Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)” for some users, and the main reasons are due to the incompatibility of some versions of storage disks produced by Western Digital and SanDisk, as covered by the “Arab Technology Portal”.
This problem comes after a series of problems that appeared as a result of the Windows 11 update (24H2), which included a malfunction related to definitions, undeletable temporary memory files, disconnection from the Internet, and others.
According to user testimonials, the issue has been observed specifically on Western Digital’s SSD models SN770 and SN580.
These crashes are currently presumed to be caused by faulty drivers for these models. According to some users, reinstalling Windows 11 or removing and reinstalling the drives does not solve the problem. However, some experts have resorted to more complex solutions, including disabling the HMB feature in the Windows Registry.
Disabling this feature may negatively affect performance, but it will prevent the Blue Screen of Death from appearing until Microsoft issues a final solution.
Microsoft and Western Digital are reportedly aware of the issue and are working on a solution, but neither has issued an official statement yet.
