Vintage Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe announced its first new collection in 25 years this week, dubbed the “Copts” line.
The new collection comes at a time when luxury watch prices have stabilized significantly, driven by strong demand; investors and younger watch collectors have started buying luxury pieces during the Covid-19 pandemic, but prices on the secondary market have recently fallen, according to CNBC.
The new collection from Patek Philippe includes three different models, two in steel and one in platinum, and aims to offer a new reinterpretation of the “sporty chic” style, according to a press release.
The two steel versions, one in a two-tone design with rose gold for a more traditional feel, and the other in all steel, reflect the sporty inspiration of the line and feature colorful faces.
The third model features a platinum case and a different face design, including an oversized date and a dial that tracks the moon phase and day of the week.
The brand said it has filed six patent applications for the new technology.
The new Patek Philippe collection also includes new cufflinks, designed to match the watches, with a white gold bezel that mirrors the case shape.
Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe is often referred to as one of the “holy trinity” of watchmaking, alongside Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin.
The brand’s last new collection before the Cubits line was in 1999 when it launched the Twenty4 design. According to Patek Philippe’s website, that collection was “dedicated to the young, active and modern woman.”
