US stock market indices close sharply lower
US stock market indices closed lower today, with the Dow Jones down 1.5%, or 626 points, to 40,936. The Standard & Poor’s 500 fell 2.1%, or 119 points, to 5,528, and the Nasdaq fell 3.25%, or 577 points, to 17,136.
