Saudi individual investors in stock market: 74% for males and 26% for females during Q2

Data issued by the Capital Market Authority today revealed that the number of portfolios in the Saudi stock market (main) reached 12.4 million portfolios by the end of the second quarter, owned by 6.4 million male and female investors in the market. The share of male individuals who own portfolios in the main stock market is estimated at about 74%, while the share of females reached about 26% of the total individual investors.

According to this data – according to Maaal analysis – the number of investors (males and females) in the Saudi stock market constitutes about 20% of the total population of the Kingdom, based on the 2020 census, which the General Authority for Statistics explained that the total population (Saudis and non-Saudis) is 32.1 million people.

The data reflects the growth in the number of investors who own investment portfolios in the Saudi stock market (the main market), as the total number of individuals investing in the market during the first quarter of 2023 reached about 5.8 million individuals, an increase of 1% over the previous quarter, while the number of investors in the second quarter reached 5.9 million investors, an increase of 2% over the previous quarter.
