Japanese stocks close higher on chipmakers’ gains
Japanese stocks closed higher on Thursday, supported by chipmakers that tracked their U.S. counterparts, and a weaker yen that boosted exporters.
The Nikkei average rose 2.79% to 38,925.63, while the broader Topix index rose 2.66% to close at 2,721.12.
