AMAK Announces Commercial Production at New Processing Plant

Almasane Alkobra Mining Company (AMAK) announced on Monday the commencement of commercial production at its Al Masane Mine Expansion Project, which includes the development of the Moyeath orebody and the associated processing plant. The project, designed to process approximately 400,000 tonnes annually, officially started commercial operations on September 15, 2024.

AMAK expects the plant to reach full production capacity during the third quarter of 2024. The new processing facility features advanced technology aimed at increasing the efficiency and quality of zinc and copper production. Zinc concentrate output is projected to rise by 80%, while copper concentrate production is expected to increase by 40%, all with reduced production costs.

The launch of the new plant marks a significant milestone in AMAK’s strategy to enhance production of zinc and copper concentrates. By leveraging advanced techniques, the company aims to optimize its mining resources and boost operational efficiency, contributing to its long-term sustainable growth objectives.

This announcement follows a previous statement made by AMAK on March 26, 2024, regarding the successful commissioning of the Moyeath Plant, where the first zinc and copper concentrates were produced on March 25, 2024.
