Billionaire Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway now owns more short-term Treasury bonds than the Federal Reserve. The company has increased its holdings by 81% since the beginning of the year through June, and now owns $234.6 billion. It is on track to generate annual risk-free interest of about $12 billion.

Billionaire Warren Buffett is attracting attention after Berkshire Hathaway announced that it sold nearly half of its stake in Apple in the second quarter of 2024, according to CNBC.

According to the company’s latest earnings report, about 72% of Berkshire’s stock portfolio is concentrated in five stocks. Despite the heavy selling by the “Oracle of Omaha,” Apple shares remain Berkshire Hathaway’s largest holding ever, with a market value of $84.2 billion at the end of June.

The group also recently began selling some Bank of America shares. The company sold shares in the bank, which represents the second-largest holding in its investments after Apple, in a 12-day selling streak that began in July.
