The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Tesla Inc. is recalling 9,136 Model X SUVs due to a defect in the roof that could cause a portion of it to detach, increasing the risk of a crash.
The agency added that “the two decorative elements in the front and middle of the roof may have been attached without a base adhesive layer. As a result, one or both of the elements may have detached from the vehicle,” according to Reuters.
Tesla added that it will test the adhesion of these two elements to the roof and will reinstall them free of charge as needed.
