Japan’s Nikkei average fell on Monday as a stronger yen weighed on domestic shares. The Japanese currency rebounded to 145 against the dollar after falling to 147.34 the previous day, although a pause in the yen’s rally helped limit losses in Asian afternoon trade.
The Nikkei fell 0.3 percent to 37,951.8 at the close, after falling 1 percent in early trade. The broader Topix index also fell 0.2 percent to 2,664.86.
Japanese stocks have been mixed between gains and losses this week as the yen has been volatile.
