Gold rises slightly ahead of Fed meeting

Gold prices rose slightly on Tuesday as investors looked for more clues on when the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates, which meets this week to decide on policy, and awaited data.

Spot gold was up 0.2% at $2,388.65 an ounce by 0635 GMT. U.S. gold futures were up 0.3% at $2,385.30.

In other precious metals, spot silver was up 0.1% at $27.89 an ounce. Platinum rose 0.3% to $951.25 an ounce, while palladium fell 0.6% to $898.08 an ounce.
