Saudi of non-oil commodity exports to imports increased to 37.1% during April

The General Authority for Statistics revealed an increase in the ratio of non-oil exports, including re-exports to imports, in April 2024, reaching 37.1% compared to 32.6% in April 2023, as a result of the increase in non-oil exports, which reached 12.4%, and the decrease in imports, which reached 1.3%. during this period.

In addition to the increase in non-oil exports (including re-exports) by 12.4% compared to April 2023, national non-oil exports (excluding re-exports) increased to 1.6%, while the value of re-exported goods increased by 56.4% in the same period. Commodity exports decreased in April 2024 by 1% compared to April 2023, as a result of a 4.2% decrease in petroleum exports. The percentage of oil exports out of total exports also decreased from 80.6% in April 2023 to 78% in April 2024.

In terms of imports, they decreased by 1.3% in April 2024, and when looking at the commodity trade balance, the surplus decreased by 0.5% compared to April 2023. Compared to the previous month, March 2024, the value of commodity exports decreased by 1.7%, and the value of non-oil exports (including re-exports) decreased by 6.3%. The value of imports also decreased by 17.4%, while the merchandise trade balance recorded an increase of 36% compared to March 2024.

According to the Authority, plastics, rubber and their products constituted 26.2% of the total non-oil exports, recording an increase of 20.5% compared to April 2023, followed by “products of chemical and related industries” (representing 25.7% of the total non-oil exports), which decreased by 13.8% from April 2023 AD. On the other hand, the most important imported goods were “machinery, appliances, electrical equipment and their parts,” which constitute 26.6% of total imports, and they increased by 32.4% from April 2023, then “transportation equipment and their parts, which constitute 11.7% of total imports, which decreased by 24.5%.” For the month of April 2023 AD.

China also ranks first for the Kingdom’s imports, which constituted 22.4% of total imports in April 2024, followed by the United States of America (8.3% of total imports), then India with 6.6% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Germany and Switzerland were all Italy, Japan, Vietnam, and Egypt are among the 10 most important countries from which imports were made, and the total value of the Kingdom’s imports from those 10 countries amounted to 62.2% of total imports.
