Saudi Communications, Space and Technology Commission announces qualification of Aramco Digital to obtain a license for specialized communications network frequencies

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission announced that the global integrated digital solutions company “Aramco Digital” has qualified to obtain a specialized telecommunications network frequency license in the 450 MHz frequency band, after completing the regulatory procedures for the license. The license aims to establish a communications network to serve the industrial and business sectors independently of mobile communications networks, and to operate on the latest global wireless technologies to meet the specialized needs of various sectors, as part of the authority’s directions to achieve the Kingdom’s leadership in providing specialized broadband communications services.

Today, the Commission’s Board of Directors issued its decision to qualify the company to obtain the license, which will contribute to enhancing digital transformation in the sectors of industry, energy, transportation, health, and other national sectors. The specialized network will also enable applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Internet of Industrial Things. The Commission had previously announced last March 2024 that competition would be offered to the public for this type of license.
