European markets close lower, FTSE recovers

European stocks closed lower today, losing the positive momentum seen during the previous trading session.

The STOXX 600 index ended the session down by 0.18%, with major stock exchanges and sectors mixed. Technology stocks led losses, down 1.15%, while mining stocks added 0.65%.

The UK’s FTSE 100 index rose in afternoon trading, rising 0.2% and recovering from previous losses after the country’s inflation reading came in line with expectations.

The French CAC index continued its losses, falling by about 0.77%, while the German DAX index fell by about 0.36%.
