BOE keeps rates unchanged for the seventh meeting in a row

Bank of England kept interest rates unchanged for the seventh meeting in a row, despite the slowdown in inflation at the 2% target.

According to the monetary policy decision issued today, Thursday, June 20, the British Central Bank kept the interest rate at the highest level in 16 years, amounting to 5.25%. This is the level at which it has been held since August 2023.

Two members of the Monetary Policy Committee voted in favor of stabilization, while two votes supported lowering interest rates.

Yesterday, inflation data in the United Kingdom showed that the consumer price index stabilized at 2% in May, which is the same as the targets of the Bank of England.
