A technical problem on the New York Stock Exchange on Monday caused shares of top-tier shares of billionaire Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway to falsely appear to have fallen by nearly 99%.
Trading was halted on those stocks, as well as on Barrick Gold and Nuscale Power, which also witnessed a dramatic fall, according to CNBC.
The New York Stock Exchange said it was investigating a technical issue with upper and lower bound bands, which are mechanisms for halting stocks due to excessive volatility.
These problems come a week after US stock exchanges switched to one-day settlement.
