US stocks fell on Wall Street on Thursday, with investors worried this week ahead of the March jobs report scheduled for release on Friday. The rise in oil prices and fears that the US Federal Reserve will not move towards lowering interest rates exacerbated the negative atmosphere.
According to CNBC, the indices ended the session on a collective decline, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 517 points, or 1.3%, resuming its decline this week after gaining 294 points earlier on Thursday. Between the day’s highs and lows, the range for the 30-stock Dow Jones was 861.94. The Standard & Poor’s 500 lost 1.1%, giving up a gain of 0.9%.
Meanwhile, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 1.1%. Major stocks like Nvidia and Alphabet also gave up gains on the day.
