Chinese BYD to launch its first electric pickup truck in 2024

BYD intends to launch its first electric pickup truck this year, as the giant Chinese company works to increase competition with global car companies, from Ford and Tesla.

The mid-sized to large pickup truck was developed for the global market, the company said in a press release.

BYD does not sell its products in the United States, the most popular market for pickup trucks, but it has a presence in other popular markets for this type of vehicle, including Thailand.

The company became the largest electric car maker in the world last year, thanks to low prices and strong global expansion, but it lost this title in the first quarter of 2024.
