Nasdaq soars thanks to tech shares’ gains

The main indices on Wall Street opened higher on Monday, as the rise of growth stocks and shares of chip manufacturers supported the significant recovery of the Nasdaq index before the Federal Reserve (US central bank) meeting this week.

According to Reuters, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 112.16 points, or 0.29%, to 38,826.93 points.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 37.68 points, or 0.74%, to 5,154.77 points.

The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 181.75 points, or 1.14%, to 16,154.92 points.
