King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam continues to achieve records by handling 235.8 thousand standard containers

King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam achieved a new record during the month of February 2024, by handling 235,820 standard containers, an increase of 25.41% compared to the same period of last year 2023, which reached 166,956 standard containers. This is the highest monthly handling in the port’s history, which reflects the growing efforts of “ Ports” in its development, which contributed to enhancing its productivity, raising its operational efficiency, and supporting its qualitative operational and logistical capabilities.

The number of incoming containers reached 142,673 containers, an increase of 48.95% compared to 95,787 containers in the same time period in 2023. The number of outgoing containers also increased by 24.67% to reach 86,250 containers compared to 69,184 last year. Ship traffic also increased by 247.46% to reach 6,897. ships, compared to 1,985 ships in 2023.

This comes as confirmation of the pioneering operational and logistical characteristics and capabilities possessed by King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, through 43 berths with full services and equipment, with a capacity of up to 105 million tons of goods and containers, in addition to a number of specialized stations, advanced equipment, and modern equipment that enables it to handle various types of goods. Goods, in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy; By consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics center and the meeting point of the three continents.

It is noteworthy that King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam succeeded in breaking the record it achieved in January 2024 by handling 215,179 standard containers, which confirms its role in strengthening the Kingdom’s leadership in the maritime sector, and maximizing its ability to stimulate the transportation and logistics industry.
