French football league bears “McDonald’s” brand name for 20 million euros annually

Several agencies reported that McDonald’s has signed a contract with the French League to purchase the naming rights for 20 million euros annually, starting from the next sports season 2024-2025, and for the next three seasons, so that the new name becomes Ligue 1 McDonald’s, in a deal that is considered the largest of its kind at the French League level. .

The league has currently been called Ligue 1 Uber Eats for five years, as the food delivery company Uber signed a sponsorship contract to name the French league in the 2020-2021 sports season after it replaced the furniture store chain Conforama, with contract estimates reaching 12.8 million pounds for two seasons. Then he extended it for two more seasons for 14.5 million pounds sterling.

Naming rights for football leagues are a marketing opportunity for sponsoring companies through which they can be associated with a product that reaches a wide audience over a long period to spread their brand, products and activities.
