ACWA Power Secures Commercial Operation Certificate for Taweelah RO Desalination Project in UAE

ACWA Power Company disclosed on Wednesday, March 12, 2024, that it received a notification from the Taweelah RO Desalination Company in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, confirming the issuance of the Project Commercial Operation Certificate by the Emirates Water & Electricity Company (EWEC).

Announcing on Tadawul today, ACWA Power revealed that an additional production capacity of 75,920 m³/day has been commissioned. This augmentation complements the previously initiated Group 1, which began commercial operations on June 9, 2022, with a capacity of 454,609 m³/day, and Group 2, which followed on April 25, 2023, with 378,689 m³/day. Consequently, the project has now reached its full commercial operational capacity, amassing a total output of 909,218 m³/day of desalinated water.

Holding a 40% interest in the project, ACWA Power also noted that the financial repercussions of this milestone are anticipated to manifest starting from Q2 2024.
