Wall Street opens stable, focusing on earnings reports and economic data

Wall Street opened flat on Thursday following earnings reports from Walt Disney Co and Spirit Airlines, while investors also weighed weaker-than-expected jobs data and comments from policymakers about lower interest rates.

According to Reuters, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 42.09 points, or about 0.1%, to 38,719.45 points.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index fell by 1.44 points, or 0.03%, to 4,993.62 points, while the Nasdaq Composite increased by 3.82 points, or 0.02%, to 15,760.45 points.
