Data: Saudi Arabia is the third most expensive cinema tickets in the world

Data issued by the Nomibo website, which specializes in consumer prices, showed that Saudi Arabia ranked third in the list of the cost of a cinema and entertainment seat in the world, at a cost of 65 riyals per person, after Switzerland, which topped the list with the highest cost in the world at a value of 81.6 riyals, followed by Denmark at a cost of 65.2 riyals per person.

The United States ranked eighth at a cost of 52.5 riyals per capita, Germany and France ranked 12th and 13th at a cost of 48.62 riyals per capita, and the United Kingdom ranked 17th at a cost of 47.4 riyals per capita, followed by Japan in 22nd place at a cost of 45.2 riyals, and China also ranked 54th at a cost of 26 riyals. Turkey and Egypt ranked 74th and 75th at a cost of 18.3 and 18.2 riyals per capita, and then Russia ranked 84th at a cost of 16.5 riyals per capita.

At the level of the Gulf countries, the UAE and Qatar ranked 18th and 19th at a cost of 46.9 riyals per capita and 46.3 riyals. Kuwait also ranked 23rd at a cost of 42.6 riyals per capita, and Oman ranked 37th at a cost of 34.10 riyals.

India ranked 90th on the list at a cost of 13.5 riyals per capita, and Iran ranked 94th on the list at a cost of 5.6 riyals per capita.

In this regard, Engineer Samir Al-Junaid, a member of the Consumer Awareness Committee in the Chamber of Commerce, explained via a tweet on the And food in cinema halls, and prohibiting bringing drinks from outside the cinema, especially those that are not available for sale, in addition to some individuals violating cinema instructions by talking among themselves in a loud voice, without supervision from the organizers.

According to a report issued by the General Authority for Audiovisual Media last September, revenues from the cinema sector in the Kingdom exceeded 3 billion riyals since its opening in April 2018, through the sale of more than 51 million tickets, making cinema in the Kingdom the highest profit in the region, and it also exceeded the number of screens. There are 620 screens in the Kingdom, and there are more than 69 cinemas, with a capacity of about 64,000 seats, in more than 20 cities, with more than 7 operators.
