Wall Street stocks open lower as they await economic data

The main indices on Wall Street opened lower today, Wednesday, with investors seeking to take profits after a strong performance during 2023 and anticipating economic data and the minutes of the Federal Reserve meeting in December, which provide indications of the path of interest rates this year.

According to Reuters, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 85.81 points, or 0.23%, to 37,629.23 points.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index fell by 17.76 points, or 0.37% percent, to 4,725.07 points, while the Nasdaq Composite index fell 124.47 points, or 0.84% percent, to 14,641.47 points.
