Wall Street opens higher and S&P touches a new record high

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index touched a new record high on Monday in another session in which Wall Street’s main indexes recorded gains as investors awaited corporate earnings reports and any signs of cutting interest rates this year.

According to Reuters, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 55.75 points, or 0.15 percent, to 37,919.55 points.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 13.61 points, or 0.28 percent, to 4,853.42 points, while the Nasdaq Composite index advanced 82.08 points, or 0.54 percent, to 15,393.05 points.
