Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha held several meetings Tuesday in Davos, Switzerland with leaders of major global technology companies.
They discussed the expansion of their technological projects and innovative solutions in the Kingdom, with the aim of enhancing the Kingdom’s leadership as a hub for technology and innovation in the region.
The meetings took place as part of the Kingdom’s delegation participation in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum.
In a meeting with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Eng. Al-Swaha discussed the outcomes of Nadella’s visit to Riyadh. They also discussed enhancing investment opportunities in the fields of generative artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, promoting entrepreneurship, and programs for developing the capabilities of national talents.
In a separate meeting with IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, the Saudi minister discussed joint projects and progress made in several projects related to generative AI, big data, and digital capabilities development.
They also talked about programs to stimulate research and innovation in deep technologies.
Eng. Al-Swaha also met with Amazon CEO Adam Selipsky, discussing a partnership to support the growth of the digital economy in the region. They explored accelerating innovative business models and applications of generative AI.
Meanwhile, Vice Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Haitham Al-Ohali met with Alibaba Group CEO J. Michael Evans. They discussed the achievements in national talent development and fostering investment through enhancing partnerships in cloud computing and e-commerce solutions.
Additionally, Eng. Al-Ohali met with NAX group CEO Jeff Schumacher to discuss opportunities for stimulating potential for digital startup companies and enhancing innovation to create promising opportunities in the digital economy.
