Wall Street opens higher after US Fed hints at a rate cut

Major stock indexes on Wall Street opened higher on Thursday, a day after the Federal Reserve (US central bank) hinted at the end of its monetary tightening cycle and indicated that borrowing costs will fall next year.

According to Reuters, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 25.39 points, or 0.07 percent, to 37,115.63 points.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 13.95 points, or 0.30 percent, to 4,721.04 points, while the Nasdaq Composite index increased 64.76 points, or 0.44 percent, to 14,798.72 points.
